Thought I would share my first impression of Discovery with you ...........
August 17th, 2009
It was a cold and rainy day. Morning was turning to noon when I first saw her. She was everything I was hoping for, everything I was dreaming of. Nestled in her docking berth, dwarfed by two cruise liners she shone brightly. I was moved. There was nothing like her in sight! As I approached I felt an amazing adventure waiting. With duffel bags and ample libations in hand we boarded. A halfway lowered ladder unsteady and awkward greeted us. I loved it. I first noticed her freshly varnished woodwork ... the outside cabin, railings, trim and doorways. Her ageless unfinished teak deck brandished rugged strength. I entered the aft deck enclosed with canvass and plastic, seemed very comfortable for cruising even in rainy weather. Next we entered an immaculate miniature living area with wonderfully decorated mahogany walls, antiques scattered about, and a perfectly fitted library. A TV scarred the aura. I continued into a stunningly cozy dinning cabin elegantly arranged and immaculately kept. All the while I kept glancing out the window up a wonderous river. On to the galley. Wow! Tiny and efficient. At that moment I got it. No space unused, everything in its space, with the goal of giving us more. Out of the galley onto the bow, a couple of sturdy cleats, rope portals, anchor winch, and a hopeful view up a serene river. I knew much of my time would be spent there. A quick look at the top deck and the adventure became real. Several kayaks, two skiffs, fishing poles, crab pots, and a view of splendor!! I felt at home and in awe. Down below were six berths, two heads and two showers. Perfect is the only word I can find to describe it. She showed no signs of age. She was exquisite.
